Djangada Band ft. Sam Watts

606 Club, SW10 0QD , [Venue Details]

Named after a fishing boat found in Bahia in the north-east of Brazil, the home of Afro-Brazilian rhythms, the piano trio Djangada take this classic sound as a starting point and bring it into the 21st century.

Wednesday,
12 Nov 2025
@8.00pm

Adding a funkier take to the traditional Brazilian rhythms the sound is inspired by the jazz trio aesthetic but at the same time retaining the energetic party atmosphere of the original style. The end result is a mix of Afro-Brazilian grooves, funky basslines and a strong improvisational flair, making the band’s shows exciting and entertaining. The three members, Sam Watts-piano, Matheus Nova-bass & Marcinho Pereira-drums are all established performers in their own right, with performances at the likes of the Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall, Ronnie Scott’s and the Montreal, London, Paris, Montreux and North Sea Jazz Festivals on impressive CVs.

“The performance by the trio adds up to a well-contrasted and stimulating totality…Watts’ superb pianism and intelligent musicianship…Nova’s sanguine dexterity with unbridled virtuosity and the electrifying drumming of Pereira” World Music Report
